Loving Lilium (27) Christmas Reflection

Menno van Diermen, December 23, 2024

Last Friday, Lilium ceased all operations. While the news is not yet officially confirmed at the time of publishing this article, KPMG has been unable to secure a deal with new investors to purchase the company’s assets for a restart. As I previously concluded in Loving Lilium (26): The Berlin Wall Crash, Lilium should have exited Germany sooner and prioritized securing major strategic investors earlier in its journey. The absence of a strategic investor ultimately proved fatal for Lilium. The mission remains unfulfilled just before the first manned flight, and their journey to become the leading eVTOL in the RAM industry comes to an end.

Reflection

I can’t believe its all over, it hurts deeply. During my visit to Liliums HQ in April 2024 I witnessed the incredible positive energy of all Lilians working tirelessly to bring the Lilium Jet to its next milestones. My heart goes out to all Lilians navigating in this new reality.

Dear Lilians, it may feel like this Christmas is overshadowed by loss, but in time, you will look back with pride on the risks you took and the journey you embraced. You strengthened your skills, showcased your talents, and proved your courage. Taking risks in life means living your dreams and shaping your own legacy. You discovered your leadership during this journey. Fighting for a mission revealed and boosted your leadership!

If you’ve taken a break for reflection, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Please share in the comments how this journey has shaped you, or mail me menno@lovinglilium.com.
